The Foundation for HMFS was created in the fall of 1977. Our Founder, William R. Hill, III was recruited by the Equitable Life Assurance Society of the United States(Now AXA Equitable). Mr. Hill, a recent graduate of the U of Iowa’s Business School with a degree in Marketing Management, was eager to take on the challenge of building a secure and rewarding future for himself and his family.

Mr. Hil Excelled while at Equitable Life winning a number of sales contests and received National recognition as an Equitable agent. Mr. Hill was promoted to District Manager and with his new team of agents continued to win awards.


During his career with The Equitable Mr. Hill began to think of ways to provide his clients with a broader array of services than those offered by Equitable at the time. Having met several veteran Insurance Agents and Brokers, he became more interested in offering his services to a wider market. It was during these various meetings that the seed for Insurance Brokering was planted.


As fate would have it,  one of Mr. Hill’s good friends, who also was one of his agents, was recruited and hired by a Major Pharmaceutical Company. His friend , Brian Dixon, went on to win several Pharmaceutical Sales Awards and was quickly promoted to assistant Regional Manager.


“ During a chance meeting with my friend Brian, he informed me of an open sales position in Chicago. As an assistant Regional Manager, Brian was  reviewing and coding over 750 Resume’s for the position. Brian asked me if I would be interested in applying for the position. With some hesitation I decided to apply for the position. After several interviews I was  hired as a Pharmaceutical Sales Professional. It was one of the most exciting aspects of my business career. Being a Pharmaceutical Sales Specialist was both challenging and demanding”.

Mr. Hill excelled with Sandoz Pharmaceuticals, which was eventually purchased by Novartis Pharmaceuticals. Some years later he was recruited by yet another “Big Pharma” company to work as a Hospital Sales Specialist. AstraZeneca was a leading pharmaceutical company with many new products in its pipeline and showed interest in Mr. Hill as a Regional Manager. Mr Hill was able to earn his Master’s Degree in Business while working for AstraZeneca.


After 20 years as a pharmaceutical salesman, Special Sales Representative and Regional Manager, Mr. Hill decided to go back to his first passion, Insurance sales and Management.


“ I enjoyed and preferred the autonomy of being my own boss , I also enjoyed knowing that I could help a lot of people, make a good living and continue to grow both personally and professionally. Returning to the Insurance Business as a Broker was something that I wanted to do for many years”


To date, approximately 25 years later, Hill Medical and Financial Services has helped thousands of people with their insurance needs, Financial and Retirement Plans.
